How the credit cap works in football
Premier League stars cost the most credit; rotational squad players cost the least. The cap is the same across a contest, and your job is to allocate it across positions rather than stack it on marquee names. The desk's read: spread credit across three or four premium midfielders, because midfield goals are the highest-scoring events in football fantasy.
How the captain pick shifts with fixture congestion
Mid-week Champions League fixtures force Premier League managers to rotate. A captain who plays Tuesday is unlikely to start Saturday; a captain who plays Saturday is unlikely to start Tuesday. The desk's preference is to captain a player in the contest window, not the marquee across both. Rotation risk is the football equivalent of the powerplay-fall trap in cricket.
The ISL desk
The Indian Super League runs from November to March. The desk covers ISL during that window — squad reads, captain logic and venue notes. The ISL captain pick favours a midfielder or a second-striker, because the ISL points system rewards shots on target and key passes more heavily than clean sheets. Champions League and the knockout format
Champions League knockouts run as two-leg ties. The captain pick for the first leg is conservative — a defender who plays the full 90 is the safer read, because clean-sheet bonuses matter more than attacking returns. The captain pick for the second leg is aggressive — the team chasing the aggregate needs goals, so the captain is the marquee striker or the set-piece taker.
